Michael Katz

Michael Katz is the Firm’s data privacy expert. He brings well over two decades of specialized experience in data privacy management (and almost half a century of international human resources expertise). 

Prior to joining the Firm, Michael was BP’s Data Privacy Manager for the US and the Regional Privacy Coordinator for the Americas. While Michael’s data privacy remit was global, his specialty was in risk assessment, containment and mitigation, including conducting corporate and third party privacy audits.  He also developed and implemented global processes and tools  to support compliance with European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Michael has a Master’s Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations; he is a member of both the American Petroleum Institute’s Data Privacy Council and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He is both a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), and has been recognized as a Fellow in Privacy (FIP) by the IAPP.
